Network Research

Research into the use and development of network protocols for supporting communication, collaboration, and multimedia.

  • Designed and implemented Sonix (1993; C, sockets), a network-transparent audio server along with an API for programming it.  Instructed others in the use of Sonix for practical applications such as a screen saver utilizing speaker identity verification. [4, 7]
  • Devised methods for incorporating diverse terminal capabilities into Touring Machine (1991-1992; C, sockets), a prototype software platform for supporting multimedia communications. [5]
  • Investigated the use of ISDN and other low-bandwidth networks for groupware applications (1993-1994).
